Maintenance Technician, 2nd shift

Responsible for repairing and maintaining the electrical portion of the equipment in an operational and safe condition for Distribution Center packaging.  Duties will not be limited to electrical only and will include mechanical as well.




  • Install and repair electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment, with the assistance of a tech of a higher classification, using hand tools, power tools, and electrical and electronic test equipment


  • Assist in installing power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment


  • Have basic understanding of electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, and blueprints.


  • Test and help diagnose malfunctioning machinery, using test equipment and discuss action plan with other maintenance workers


  • Assist in repair of printers, metal detectors, scales and filler systems, etc.


  • Assist in the replacement faulty electrical components of machines, such as relays, switches, motors, and positions sensing devices


  • Learn simple PLC programs


  • Be able to tear down and set up fillers, baggers, and other equipment needed for the daily operation of the lines.


  • Must possess mechanical aptitude in regards to an industrial setting.


  • Assist mechanics when necessary for line repair.




  • Work with machine operators during production to assure highest levels of productivity
  • Perform clean-up duties as directed to insure contamination free products
  • May be assigned other duties by the Supervisor.
  • Adhere to all Lakeside Foods policies and procedures.
  • Notify the Supervisor  immediately if any unsafe or potentially hazardous conditions are discovered






  • High school graduate and related vo-tech or two to three years work experience preferred.
  • Must work in a safe manner.
  • Must be able to work with some supervision and complete a task after shown.
  • Must have a basic understanding of machine and line operation and requirements for an acceptable product.

  • Standing: Must be able to stand entire shift.
  • Walking: Walks periodically to get parts and materials.
  • Sitting: Limited sitting required.
  • Lifting: Able to lift up to 100 pounds on an occasional basis during a repair.
  • Carrying: Must be able to carry up to 75 pounds for 100 feet.
  • Pushing: Able to push items of 200 pounds occasionally.
  • Pulling: Same as pushing.





  • Will work in noisy environment and must wear hearing protection.
  • Must keep self and tools in a clean condition.
  • Temperature in the work environment could be 55 – 75 degrees F.
