Seasonal Scale Room Grader (Early July- Late November)

GENERAL SUMMARY:

 

Responsible for weighing and grading of raw product received at the plant. Also responsible for assisting in the grading of pre-grade samples delivered by the Ag Dept.

 

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collect samples from each trailer (Beans – 10 to 15lbs and Carrots – 50lbs).                        
  • Grade each sample based on the Lakeside procedures.
  • Operate grader safely.                                                       
  • Complete paperwork accurately.
  • Help cover breaks for inspectors.   
  • Assist Ag. Dept with Pre-grade samples.
  • Assist in the operation of production as directed by the mechanic/supervisor.    
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Must be able to work independently with little supervision.                         
  • Notify supervisor immediately if any unsafe or potentially hazardous conditions are discovered.
  • May perform other duties as assigned by Lakeside Management.
  • Adhere to all Lakeside Foods policies and procedure.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

 

Knowledge:

  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Learn and follow the approved safe practices and procedures which apply to position.
  • Become familiar with, observe and follow all Lakeside Foods’ rules and established policies for Safety, Health and Security.                    

 

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to accurately fill out daily logs and correspondence.
  • Ability to perform simple math.
  • Must be able to follow simple directions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and use a stepping like motion.  The employee is also required to use hands and fingers to handle product and/or cans on a regular basis. 
  • The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 55 pounds.

 

 WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  Ear protection is required.
