Duration: 4 or 5 months starting May 2022

 

We are seeking an Agronomy Intern to join our Agriculture team. This opportunity will help you gain an understanding of North American vegetable production practices and expose you to the general operations of a commercial Agriculture department.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN:

  • From your first day, you are a full member of the Agriculture team and can see firsthand how our vegetables are grown and processed, from farm to fork. You will collaborate with the Agronomy, Field and Production staff as they make presentations and work directly with growers.

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

As our Intern, you will be assisting to research and analyze data on various Ag economics projects.

 

Your Tasks May Include:

  • Analyze cost of production.
  • Investigate pest/disease management practices within the local area.
  • Statistical evaluation to identify best practices and data trends.
  • Assist in establishing receiving and payment processes for company vegetables
  • Track and evaluate vegetable varieties and their performance in the factory.
  • Promote relations between the company and growers
  • Assist with raw product alignment and scheduling activities.
  • Utilize and drive a company vehicle to scout fields
  • Occasionally drive a harvester, must be 18 yrs of age 
  • Other projects as assigned.

 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

We’re looking for a student who wants to apply their coursework in Agronomy, Ag Economics, Business Management or a closely related field to the food processing industry. Our ideal intern brings:

  • Analytical skills to see patterns and trends in data,
  • Communication skills to work with stakeholders inside and outside the organization,
  • Self-reliance and resourcefulness to work smarter, not just harder,
  • An ability to set realistic goals while focusing intently on a project,
  • Confidence in a fast-paced environment,
  • Computer skills in MS Office,
  • A strong work ethic.
